Drive to Collect Detergent for Homeless and At-Risk Veterans in DC Underway

WASHINGTON, DC—The American Legion Post 1 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1 are partnering to collect laundry detergent for homeless and at-risk veterans in DC.

The Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC) provides care and services to homeless and at-risk veterans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. DC’s CRRC is one of 17 such centers across the country, and offers a primary care clinic, a kitchen, laundry and shower facilities, a food pantry and play room for children, as well as a host of other community services.

Donations are already coming in from Legion Family members (local and out-of-state) and non-Legion Family members alike. Please donate today to make a difference in the lives of our most in-need veterans.

Unit 1 has committed to assisting the DC-based CRRC in the future.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1 is the District of Columbia’s newest women’s patriotic service organization. Unit 1, formally chartered in 2013, is committed to serving veterans, their families and the DC community.
