Drive to Collect Items for Care Packages to Deployed Servicemembers Underway

WASHINGTON, DC—The American Legion Post 1 Family is collecting items to send care packages to deployed servicemembers. Items will be collected through the end of March at all Legion Family events or to make special arrangements please call or email us at the information above.

Items being collected are fun-size chocolate; other candy and snack foods; peanut butter (especially crunchy); water flavoring; instant coffee; travel size items; spin brush or pulsar-type toothbrush and toothpaste; brown and blond hair bands; white socks (especially smaller sizes); twin sheets; puzzle books; and air fresheners.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1 is the District of Columbia’s newest women’s patriotic service organization. Unit 1, formally chartered in 2013, is committed to serving veterans, their families and the DC community.
